Guidelines for Submitting Digital Art

Advantages
There are a number of reasons to submit digital files through our website as opposed to sending traditional paper orders, most notably:
  • Instant File Transfer and Order Submission
Customers outside of our route delivery radius can receive orders much quicker and avoid the hassles associated with mailing artwork and faxing order forms separately. Local customers can submit orders even after the driver has left.
  • The Digital Edge
Combining your first generation artwork with our direct-to-plate system means a 100% exact reproduction with no degradation in quality.
File Types
Please follow the instructions below to help ensure a seamless transition of your file from submission to production.
  • To receive BCT's base pricing, all files must be "PRINT-READY" and submitted in PDF, EPS, or TIFF format. PDF files are preferred because of the ability to embed all fonts and images into the file, greatly minimizing the primary cause of problems with digital artwork.
  • There may be additional charges for the submission of native files (QuarkXpress, InDesign, etc.) due to the additional production time necessary. Mac users must use a proper extention on file names to prevent possible delays caused by unidentifiable file types.
  • General requirements for best results: 600 dpi for full colour graphics. Convert colour files to CMYK. Embed all images and graphics, or include all graphics in a separate folder.
Instructions
Please follow the instructions below to help ensure a seamless transition of your file from submission to production.

PAGE SIZE & SETUP
  • Orders should be submitted as a 1-up composite template using the actual page dimensions. Set the document page size to reflect the type of job being sent (i.e. Business Cards: 3.5" x 2", Letterhead: 8.5" x 11").
  • Files with bleeds must add an extra .25" to the document size. 1/8" min. bleed.
  • Only one copy of electronic art is needed for each item.
  • Add crop marks or a border showing the edge of the file to ensure accurate copy placement.

FONTS
  • Fonts must be embedded or outlined. PDF and EPS files that are not set up in this format may have problems with fonts being substituted. Avoid using a font size smaller than 8pt with four colour combinations.
PHOTO / ARTWORK AUTHORIZATION POLICY
  • Do not use copyrighted artwork or photos; an "Authorization to Reproduce Work" form must accompany all orders using such art/photos. It is your responsibility to get authorization. Original art/photos do not require authorization forms.
